The Sevan branch of the Yerevan botanical garden of the RA NAS was founded in 1944. It occupies an area of 6.5 hectares in the north-eastern part of the city, on an area devoid of natural dendroflora. Sevan botanical garden is one of the tallest and unique gardens in the world, 1920-2000 m. Over 80 years of activity, a very rich and valuable arboretum with high frost resistance has been collected, which plays a great role in the development of landscaping and forestry in the settlements of the Lake Sevan basin.Here you can find plant species and trees typical of the Sevan basin and brought from other places.The purpose of the Sevan botanical garden is to introduction highly ornamental and economically valuable plants from different plant geographical regions of the world, to create a demonstration scientific collection, as well as to discover the adaptability of plants to new conditions of existence.
