“Friends of the Botanical Garden” NGO was founded in 2002.
The activities of the organization are aimed at։
- Improving botanical visits to Yerevan, Sevan and Vanadzor
- Making the parks more comfortable and attractive for visitors.
- Preserving biodiversity in the gardens, contributing to its sustainable production.
The tasks of the organization are:
- Contribute to the increase of public interest in botanical gardens and the Institute of Botany, as well as the awareness of the protection and care of the environment and biodiversity.
- Create the basis for the recognition of biodiversity in gardens through educational programs
- Contribute to the implementation of eco-educational activities for different segments of the population in botanical gardens
- To coordinate and concentrate the efforts of society and state institutions aimed at the preservation of the scientific collections of botanical gardens, which are a national treasure.
- Contribute to citizens’ awareness of the protection and care of the environment and biodiversity
- Organize and implement projects related to the improvement of the area of botanical gardens of Yerevan, Sevan and Vanadzor
- Organize various charity events and direct the funds generated from them to the aesthetic design of the park area and the improvement of comfort
- Contribute to the development of scientific research dedicated to the study and conservation of biodiversity
- Contribute to the in-situ (in nature, in the natural environment) and ex-situ (outside of nature) conservation of the species that are in need of protection within the botanical garden, as well as outside its territory, and, if possible, also to the restoration.
Membership in "Friends of the Botanical Garden" NGO
Membership in the charitable “Friends of the Botanical Garden” NGO will give everyone the opportunity to contribute to the revival and development of the botanical gardens of Yerevan, Sevan and Vanadzor. These national centers of scientific research, eco-educational environmental and community interest need the support of each of us.
